Presentation of Voices with a Past, Stories for the Future

We held the launch event for the English edition of a book written by Holocaust survivors 🌱

With the participation of diplomats, government officials, community leaders, representatives of social organizations, a delegation of New York State and New York City legislators, and Holocaust survivors, we presented Voices with a Past, Stories for the Future, a book that brings together stories written by participants in the Literary Workshop of our Holocaust Survivors Assistance Program.

The event

The presentation took place at the Holocaust Museum of Buenos Aires. Speakers included Gabriel Cohen, President of Fundación Tzedaká; Masha Pearl, Executive Director of The Blue Card, whose support made the translation and publication of this English edition possible; Betina Rosental, Executive Director of Fundación Tzedaká; and Graciela Komerovsky, coordinator of the Literary Workshop.

The voices of the survivors were also at the heart of the event. Rosa Rotemberg moved the audience with a reading from her piece With My Heart in My Mouth, while Lea Zajac de Novera shared remarks that deeply touched everyone present. The event concluded with a performance of the Partisans’ Hymn by Marina Wil, bringing the audience to its feet.

Among the distinguished guests were the Ambassadors of the Czech Republic and Romania; the Consul of Italy; representatives of the Embassies of Germany, Austria, Israel, Poland, and Sweden; Inbal Sela, spouse of the Ambassador of Israel to Argentina; Corina Lehman, Argentina’s representative to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA); Mauro Berenstein, President of DAIA, together with its Executive Director; Raúl Stolarza, Vice President of AMIA; Fabiana Mindlin, Secretary General of the Holocaust Museum of Buenos Aires, along with its Executive Director; representatives of organizations that are part of the Argentine chapter of the IHRA; national and city government officials; and leaders of social and community organizations.

We were also honored to welcome a delegation of 20 legislators from New York State and New York City, who traveled to Argentina to meet Holocaust survivors and learn more about Jewish life in our country.

We thank all those who attended, the institutions and individuals who made this event possible, and especially the survivors, whose words and example help keep memory alive for future generations.
